Tomorrow when the war began paragraph

In todays workshop we wrote a paragrpah about the challenges the characters showed.

In Tomorrow when the War Began, an important character is Ellie. One of the challenges she faced was blowing up the bridge. It is a challenge because they didn’t know about all the things which could have gone wrong, there are a lot of risks involved like being shot, being blown up.n being seen or captured by the enemy. This challenge helped me understand Ellie because her actions and planning showed she had matured over the story, she was  brave because she had to run through gunfire. The plan with the truck shows she is not afraid to go out on a limb and hope for the best and will act to save her friends and country. As the reader I was amazed by her courage as it would be a very scary experience.

marshmallow catapult shooter

Marshmallow Catapult shooter

Aim: To make a marshmallow shooter and work out what forces are acting on it.

Experiment- Paper cup, scissors, balloon, marshmallow

Method:

1. Cut out the bottom of the cup

2. Cut off the neck of the balloon

3. Stretch the open end of the balloon over the bottom of the cup

4. Place the marshmallow in cup

5. Pull balloon back to fire marshmallow

Results:

Discussion:

when the marshmallow was in the cup, all the forces ( thrust, friction, gravity, support) were even as it wasn't moving. When the marshmallow was shot out the cup the force used was support and when it came to the ground gravity and force/ friction were the main force.

Conclusion:  The Marshmallow catapult worked well. Some people had to cellotape their balloon to the cup so it would stay attached. The marshmallows shot quite far.
